Although I currently reside in Medford, Oregon I still consider myself a native Californian. I only moved here to be near my mother in her elder years. I am writing to you because I just dont know where else to turn. You may not be able to help me, but I wont know unless I ask. A dear friend of mine was abducted in 1978-79 while she was in San Francisco, California. Her given name is Gigi Diaz and she is still missing to this day. Her birth name (I believe) was Eugene Diaz, Gigi is transgender (incomplete) male to female. Her case file was discarded, thrown out several years ago, per S.F. policy. Because of this there is no way of getting Gigi on any of the missing persons sites available today. I know that Gigi was arrested in La Jolla, California sometime in 1977-78 before she disappeared. I just want to try to locate her family so that they can get her case reopened. I am not a family member and therefore I can not do it. I have never forgotten Gigi but lately she has been in my thoughts everyday. I couldnt say why. I thought that if there was a criminal record that there might be information about Gigi or her family, a link of some kind so that I can contact a sibling or parent. I hope that you can help me. If not, thank you for your time. You can visit a site that I have dedicated to Gigi at:
www.spaceshiprodeo.blogspot.com .
I was also hoping that you could look into S.F. policy for discarding records on missing persons after 10 years. I would think that someone in any one of their vast departments would know how to use a computer and download files to disk or CDR. So that missing persons files would not have to be thrown out like trash because they dont have the room to store them. Thanks to their policy there is no record that a missing persons report was ever even made on behalf of Gigi after she disappeared. The S.F. missing persons department just wiped her off the face of the earth just like her abductor. The saying that, eventually everyone gets brought to justice, is definitely not true for Gigi. Whoevers hands that Gigi suffered her abduction and God only knows what else that I dare not think about. Not only got away with what they did but never have to worry about being brought to justice. Gigis abductor has the San Francisco missing persons department to thank for that. My hurt and anger is showing so Ill stop here. Thank you again.
Sincerely,
Mari Thompson
